TUSD Choral Festival

Yup!  This plucky young group of singers will be performing at the annual TUSD Choral Festival, being held at Palo Verde High School.  If you came to Open House, you heard our project piece "Alfie" in its simple form.  This performance, we added some harmony that allowed the students to test their ears for balance and also to experience the lyrics more (as a reminder) of the importance of how to treat people.  If you cannot make it to this event, I will try and post an audio link so you can hear how much progress we have made and have a comparison to later performances of the song... among others.
The only bump in the road for this activity and others is the lack of parent chaperones.
WE NEED YOU!!
Please consider joining us on October 17, or on the following dates this first semester, they are:

November 15 (a Friday) in a morning walk to Tucson High.  Event will be finished by 11:00 a.m.
December 17 (a Thursday) another morning walk to Tucson High.  Event will be finished by 11:00 a.m.
We need 1, 2 people max, and currently have NONE. Please contact me through email, text, or comment on this page and I will contact you to confirm!
Thank you so much for your support!!

Best wishes to all "NEW" freshmen and
HELLO to new year!

Every year there is a transition of students, those moving on to new schools and those moving forward being the new 7th and 8th graders.
How the new year will progress is always difficult to predict as one still envisions the new 8th graders as those unique and shy 6th grade students of two years before and the 7th grade students, many unaware of the onset, and sometimes the "storm," of changes to themselves and their peers.  The hope is that through their perseverance and dedication to the Choral and Theater programs, they will come to rely on each other to meet, cope and accomplish their personal challenges and those that are presented at school.  This "togetherness" is a feeling that I continually support and promote.

As time progresses to the beginning of the school year and throughout, I hope to keep all informed of our accomplishments (past and present) and of our scholastic challenges.

If you, as a parent, would like to be a part of the success of our vocal/theater program, please email me! (thomas.levario@tusd1.org or levario7@hotmail.com)  There is a booster organization that meets monthly to plan activities for the new year!  Please stay tuned...
(we have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MansfeldChorusBooster/ and an Instagram acct. "boostermansfeld2017" where information will also be posted)
...there may be an informal meeting in early July to get a jump on items/activities for the new year!!

A Taste of Things to come!

We go to contest a week after we return to school. Kind of a culminating event that is easy to assume as a defining task for why we practice and why we are so repetitive on enunciation, phrasing, intonation and so many other things.
Yet contest is only an event that we do together; just getting there, singing with others and feeling that we belong is an immeasurable success.

Whatever score we receive, I know these kids will have given their best. A video of contest will be up soon, until then, the video below is a little taste of who we are on our "journey" to March 30..
