SUCCESS!!

After working through fundamentals, reading, pronouncing a different language, student conflicts, and general middle school drama, the Mansfeld Chorus persevered and pulled out a rating of "Excellent" from judges at the annual Arizona Choral Educator's Spring Choral Festival.
They are a very proud and talented group of students!
Click here if you would like to hear one of their pieces!
The musical piece is entitled "Mein Freund Ist Mein" from the
J.S. Bach Cantata 140 "Wachet Auf."

It's a new week!

Remember that the new week for chorus grades begins on Monday, the last day to comment is on Sunday, 6 days later.

Since we are singing a song in Latin this week, and you already know the translation, here's another bit of latin that you should know...but if not, you can research and translate it. (It is in red) You should try hard to learn the song "Da Pacem Domine" because "TEMPUS FUGIT" and before you know it, it is time for the concert.  Define what tempus fugit means and you will earn 2 points on your lowest score!  Either comment the answer or tell me.

Just in case...

Those students who are commenting on these posts should take the time to read the information provided by others.  Also, one should look at the bonus questions because they can give you extra points on your grade.  The answers can be posted online or they can be shared directly with me, or both!
Remember, Spring Concert is March 13, 7:00 p.m.

Very Sorry!

Well, it turns out that the Pentatonix Show/workshop at Sahuaro has been canceled.  It would have been a great experience for us all, but show business red tape pretty much stopped this from happening.  Avi, a member of the group who was the former student of the Sahuaro director, is very sad that things could not have worked out...maybe sometime in the future...

Please comment below if you have any questions.

How is YOUR practicing going?

It is good to know that many of you are taking advantage of the items placed on this web site to help improve your knowledge of music.  Please make sure you comment about anything you find interesting or unusual about any of your practices...even if you are happy you are done!

To Prepare or Not to Prepare...

We are getting closer to our goal and the students are improving on the Bach piece!!  Check out some of their comments on practicing the song! (We are singing the song that is posted on the right side of this blog!)

A REQUEST...

As the semester progresses, I am finding that it is easier to access tax credit funding and the students in chorus can start benefiting from this almost immediately...the only drawback is that items and activities have depleted those funds and there is still a need.

Please remember that any donations you make to tax credit are refunded in full or are credited to your taxes during tax season.  If you donate before the end of December, you will be credited in 2014!  (Remember, a family who files their taxes jointly can donate up to $400.00!  What a great way to "save" for a summer vacation!)
Any amount will be appreciated!  A donation of $5.00 can buy 2-3 copies of choral music!  It all adds up!!

The picture below will show you what you will see when you donate by credit/debit card at the tax credit site (You will have to select "Mansfeld" as the school and "Chorus" as the activity):

After you select, decide on an amount and comment (if you like :-)) you just click the buttons, provide credit/debit card information and you're done!  There are even ways to create an "app" from this page for either your Android or iPhone!!
(Don't forget to save the final page as a receipt for your taxes)

Here is the link to donate:

Thank you so much for supporting the choral music program at Mansfeld!
